Leaving for Work before Sunrise

My wife nuzzles into sheets and blankets,

tucked, warmly, into the folds;

where she sleeps, soundly,

in the warmth of safety,

impervious to danger and cold.

When, very early, I roll myself

out from under the bedding,

I pray for her;

knowing, that God in heaven

is watching, and is Father to us both.
