Dave Dravecky’s Comeback

When I was 9 years old I remember, at a family camp in the Californian mountains, finding a book on the upper bunk.

“Dave Dravecky, Comeback!” I exclaimed.

I had wanted to read it for a number of reasons — it was about a Christian, who played baseball, and had a profound story. And he was, no less, a San Francisco Giant.

Dave Dravecky’s story is long, and painful, with what seems to be a defeat.

He published “When You Can’t Comeback” not long after the first book — after having his arm break when throwing a sixth-inning pitch, finding out that months upon months of painful physical rehab had not solved his problem. His cancer came back and they had to amputate his arm.

Well, I just found on the Desiring God Blog a three-part YouTube interview they conducted with him.

Watch them.
