My little brother just called me to tell me:
Tim Lincecum is the 2008 National League Cy Young Award Winner!
He got 23 of the 32 available first place votes. (Now THAT is mandate, Obama-ites!)

Even though Brandon Webb has more wins, Lincecum’s stats roast him in every other department.
Some examples:
Strikeouts: Lincecum: 210 / Webb: 160
ERA: Lincecum: 2.43 / Webb: 3.19
Quality Start Percentage: Lincecum: .81 / Webb: .72
Jayson Stark says on ESPN.com that in a league (the National League) full of Cy Young quality pitchers, “no one is having a more special year than Tim Lincecum.”
The title is in reference to this post from a few months ago. And to the Sports Illustrated cover story featuring the brightest spot in Giants-land for some time.

Sure, he looks like he’s 14. But he’s 4-0, with the third lowest ERA (1.23) and the most strikeouts (36) in the majors. There is reason to hope and cheer, ye downcast Giants’ fans.
